MartinLogan Neolith Speakers Preview
Shh! We’ve got the first sneak peek at the new MartinLogan Neolith speakers! These new premier speakers are hand-made with quality crossover components and build quality that seems more worthy of an Italian sports car than a piece of audio gear. These MartinLogan speakers will be, if what we’ve seen is any indication, a tremendous piece of craftsmanship and engineering.
We extracted some photos from the MartinLogan Neolith speakers YouTube video preview and added commentary on what ewe can discern to-date—which is very little. Still, it’s exciting to get a sneak peek at this legendary manufacturer’s newest contribution to high end audio history.
This MartinLogan tower speaker is a bass-reflex design, with what looks to be a single tuned side-firing port and a front-firing bass driver. The enclosure is meticulously designed, with rabbet joints and an almost double baffle for what we can only imagine is the bass driver.
Here’s a look at the port and the driver, which we can’t tell on appearances alone, the material.
If this is any indication, the build quality on the crossover is going to be off the charts. And it all comes together to form this:

MartinLogan Neolith Preview Video
The MartinLogan Neolith is being called the company’s “next evolution”. We can’t wait to get a closer look. If you’ll be at the Munich High End 2014 Show you’ll get to see it before we do as that’s where the company plans to unveil its newest design.
UPDATE (5/15/2014)
More details about the MartinLogan Neolith speakers are emerging. The MartinLogan Neolith uses an electrostatic transducer (I know, big surprise!) with a radiating surface that is a third larger than the Statement e2 (it measures 22″ x 48″). We finally got more details on the integrated mid- and subwoofers as well—it’s a 15-inch rear-firing ported model with a 12-inch front firing sealed mid-bass driver. The MartinLogan Neolith speakers dip all the way down to 23Hz (+/-3 dB SPL). This is also a fully passive design, so you can choose to single wire or bi-amp the speaker as desired.
The base of the MartinLogan Neolith uses a super-dense HDF-style composite material that is designed to minimize cabinet vibrations from the twin woofers.

Given that this is MartinLogan’s largest electrostatic radiating surface to date, the Neolith’s curvilinear electrostatic transducer should produce a very wide, very convincing soundstage.
