TAD Labs Introduces The M1000TX Two-Channel Power Amp
TAD Labs introduces the M1000TX two-channel power amp, the newest addition to the Evolution series of Hi-Fi components. Priced at $24,900 (you read that right), it is decidedly NOT aimed at the mere mortal. However, it does replace their TAD-M1000 and adds a host of refinements that totally justify the nearly $25K price tag. Really. We swear. Let’s discuss.

What’s New?
According to TAD, the M1000TX has increased symmetry in circuity and layout that “employs a BTL (bridge-tied load) design that connects two separate amplifiers in a balanced configuration for the left and right channels in the amplification circuit from input through output stages”. That is just a VERY audiophile way of saying that the MM1000TX features balanced outputs.
The M1000TX also has high-capacity transformers with greater power efficiency capable of delivering 500WPC into 4 ohms. Joking aside, that is impressive power, and if you have expensive and hard-to-drive audiophile speakers, this amp could deliver the power needed. Plus it also has a bi-amping option, but you will need two of them!
Lastly, the TAD-M1000TX has a three-point support structure with internally inverted spikes which isolates its chassis from the floor (that’s not how that works). This improved support structure keeps external vibrations from traveling through the feet into a structure and crumbling your wall.
Our Take
If you can’t sense the sarcasm here, then you are an audiophile and are probably lined up to get this TAD-M1000TX 2-channel amp. Well, bad news, it’s not available until November 2024! The TAS-M1000TX will appeal to a niche segment of the audio market and appeal to those who have significant disposable cash and are looking for that 0.00001% of extra performance.
Obviously, the $25k price tag is ridiculous. You are not going to experience a 25x increase in performance (or more) over one of the amps we recommend in this article. What do you get for all that money? The cachet of owning a TAD amp of course! And isn’t that enough?
