Compliance Testing CTS HDBaseT 2.0 Spec Announced
The HDBaseT Alliance finally announced the latest CTS HDBaseT or Compliance Test Specification for Spec 2.0 of the HDBaseT standard. Dubbed CTS 2.0, it’s available for Alliance members for the testing and certification of products according to Spec 2.0 of the HDBaseT standard. It’s the definitive standard in a very technical, written format, and it’s what makes it possible to use HDBaseT to its fullest extent in new products.
While the Spec 2.0 of the HDBaseT standard was released back in August 2013, The first Spec 2.0-compliant chipset was released in the market nearly a year later in June 2014. The first Spec 2.0 products are just now being introduced into the market. In addition to supporting the 5Play feature set from Spec 1.0, Spec 2.0 adds multistreaming, daisy-chaining, USB 2.0 support and the use of fiber to extend signals over 1000 feet. We covered some of these announcements in our 2014 CEDIA Expo show coverage.
The Spec 2.0 Certification (CTS) lets all HDBaseT Alliance members receive a formal framework to certify their products are fully compliant, with interoperability with all current and future HDBaseT products.
“As the first Spec 2.0 HDBaseT products are released, the Alliance is happy to provide our members with a framework to ensure products are compliant, interoperable and part of an established product ecosystem. Our goal is to certify every HDBaseT product in the market today.”
Ariel Sobelman, President, HDBaseT Alliance
