Steinway Lyngdorf P2 Dolby Atmos Processor

We got a surprise today when the Steinway Lyngdorf P2 Dolby Atmos Processor was announced as part of a lead-up to the 2014 CEDIA Expo. The Model P2 is the first and only processor to support multiple speaker configurations for the new Dolby Atmos surround format as well as Auro-3D (a format that focuses specifically on the height aspect of the surround sound experience). There will be a Dolby Atmos demo of the new Steinway Lyngdorf P2 at CEDIA, and attendees will get to experience the technology first-hand.

The new processor will feature HDMI 2.0-compatible inputs and will be available for purchase in early 2015 according to the product preview we received from Steinway Lyngdorf. What’s nice about this product is that it brings the ability for those who already love the company’s array of speakers to enjoy the latest surround formats. If you’re buying into the Steinway Lyngdorf line, there’s a good chance that you’re either a two-channel music enthusiast, or you’ve got the ability to handle a fully-featured, top-of-the-line home theater with all the trimmings. With Dolby Atmos starting to take hold, it’s no surprise that the high end audio company is bringing this technology to its client base.

We’re looking forward to hearing the Dolby Atmos demo this year in the high performance room at CEDIA and will be sure to report on our experience live from the show.

About Auro-3D Surround Processing: Auro-3D features the critical component in the accurate playback of native 3D audio content – HEIGHT – by using a speaker layout that constructs three vertical layers around the listener. This advanced configuration is capable of reproducing highly accurate, native 3D audio for a superior immersive experience.
