The newly announced Bryston BDP-1USB digital music player is the company’s most affordable high-fidelity streaming music player that’s designed for customers using an external USB DAC (Digital to Analog Converter). The BDP-1USB is powerful, managing music libraries in excess of 30,000 tracks. It can play back MP3 files or even lossless high resolution files that are connected to the unit via external USB or NAS drive.
The Bryston BDP-1USB is positioned as a lower cost alternative to the company’s flagship BDP-2. Since the BDP-1USB requires an external USB DAC, the player costs much less than the BDP-2, which includes a premium-grade internal sound card. The product seems particularly suited towards those who are interested in using one or more of the new high resolution high-performance audio formats and/or streaming services that are starting to see a resurgence in the consumer market.

The BDP-1USB’s power comes via a noiseless linear power supply that’s isolated from the digital audio path and AC power circuits. It includes UPnP compatibility, Squeezebox emulation, DoP (DSD over PCM) and more. The firmware can be flashed and updated via any web browser, plus you can control the BDP-1USB with any Apple (iOS) or Android device (smart phones, tablets, etc). Bryston has a built-in interface, but you can also send music from any compatible apps.
