Marantz NR5009 receiver Surround Receivers

Marantz SR5009 Network AV Receiver

The new Marantz SR5009 Network AV Receiver features built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, allowing almost endless network streaming possibilities. The SR5009 is a 7-channel amplifier with 180W per channel of output. Marantz attributes much of the AV receiver’s sound quality to the unit’s discrete amplifier section—impressive for a product retailing for just $899. In terms of connectivity, the Marantz SR5009 has eight HDMI inputs (one on the front) and two HDMI outputs. It claims HDMI 2.0 compatibility with support for 3D and 4k UHD resolution.

Marantz SR5009 Advanced Network Capabilities

When we said the Marantz SR5009 had nearly limitless music streaming and content capability, it’s because the receiver has a built-in digital media player that lets you decode music files stored on a PC or even an external storage unit streamed via the network. File support includes MP3, WMA, FLAC HD, ALAC (Apple lossless), WAV 192/24, AAC, DSD, and AIFF. If that’s not enough, Apple AirPlay is included and the SR5009 can access thousands of Internet radio stations as well as on-demand streaming music services like Spotify Connect.

More Features

Multi-room listening is possible with the SR5009 by connecting a second pair of speakers to two unused amplifier channels. Since the amplifiers are assignable, you can opt to use the unused surround back channel amplifiers for a second zone. This lets you listen to 5.1 channel surround sound in your home theater while a second source (or the same source) can be used outdoors, in your garage, or in any another room where you can run a second zone.

In addition to dual HDMI outputs, the Marantz SR5009 receiver includes high-quality video processing technology so the HDMI outputs can upconvert and scale any video input to Full HD 1080p and even 4K (30Hz) UHD resolution. Again. Marantz incorporated its Smart ECO mode into the SR5009 which has three settings: Auto, On and Off. This reduces power consumption significantly when you use the SR5009 for background listening or otherwise run it at low power output levels. Full power output is engaged automatically when you boost the volume.

Other features of the Marantz SR5009 include a Setup Assistant, Audyssey MultiEQ XT room correction and auto calibration, four Smart Select buttons, multi-source Zone 2 features, and “video-off” mode for pristine audio playback. For remote configuration and use, the SR5009 is compatible with the Marantz Remote App for smartphones and tablets.
