The Sequel: 5 More Snacks for the Ultimate Home Theater Experience
The credits haven’t even rolled yet, and you’re already hungry again. Enter The Sequel: 5 More Snacks for the Ultimate Home Theater Experience. This new list was inspired by a reader (who, I am legally and morally obligated to confirm, is not 400lbs) and my editor, who pointed out that wings were absent from my last list and demanded a sequel.
Don’t worry—there won’t be any kale chips or celery sticks here. We’re keeping things indulgent, just the way a proper movie night should be. Let’s dig in.
1. Wings
When it comes to snacks, you can’t leave wings off the list—yet I did! Whether you like them spicy, sweet, or smoky, wings are the ultimate handheld snack for movie night. Choose boneless or traditional, saucy or dry-rubbed—whatever you’re craving, wings are the star of the show.
Personally, I love throwing mine on the smoker with a savory dry rub and finishing them off in the oven or air fryer for that perfect crisp. Or, if you’re feeling indulgent, bread them and deep fry for that irresistible crunch. No judgment here…except maybe from your doctor.

Serve them with classic sides like ranch or blue cheese dip, or spice it up with a buffalo ranch sauce if you’re feeling adventurous. Want to keep it a little healthier? Try a homemade Greek yogurt dip with sriracha and red pepper flakes for a flavorful kick!
And don’t forget the wet wipes for when things get messy.
2. Mini Corn Dogs
Nothing screams “comfort food” quite like a corn dog—especially in mini form. These little bites are satisfying, easy to hold, and the perfect level of greasy for movie night. Pop them in the oven or air fryer and serve with ketchup, mustard, or whatever your heart desires.

Mini corn dogs are great for both kids and adults, and they tend to be less messy than other dippable snacks (though I’ll leave that up to your discretion).
Pro Tip: If you’re throwing health concerns out the window, queso cheese or, dare I say, Cheez Whiz is an AMAZING dipping sauce for these classic comfort food bites. Go ahead, dip away!
3. Kettle Chips with Flavored Dips
Sure, you could go with regular potato chips… but why settle when you can have kettle chips? Crunchier, heartier (Editor’s note: I thought this said “healthier” and was about to make a snarky comment), and able to stand up to thick, flavorful dips, kettle chips are the MVP of snacking. Pair them with French onion dip, buffalo ranch, garlic aioli, or even guac if you’re feeling fancy.

Be warned, though: Just like Lay’s, I bet you can’t eat just one. I confess, I’ve demolished an entire family-sized bag of kettle chips (with dip) during a movie marathon… not my proudest moment, but definitely one of the most delicious.
4. Burger Sliders
Mini burgers are the ultimate bite-sized indulgence, bringing a touch of diner food to your movie night. Whether you go classic with cheese and pickles, or spice things up with jalapeños and chipotle mayo, sliders are always a crowd-pleaser. Serve them on brioche buns with your favorite toppings.

My personal go-to? Shred a rotisserie chicken, add some spicy buffalo sauce, and pile it onto dinner rolls with cheese. Bake until melty and golden—trust me, you’ll be the hero of movie night.
Honestly, who doesn’t love a good burger? Sliders are always a hit and so easy to whip up!
5. DIY Candy Mix Cups
With four savory, spicy, or salty choices, I figured I had to add a sweet or sour alternative. Making your own candy mix is a rite of passage for any home theater experience. Here in Canada, we have a store called “The Bulk Barn” where, as you may have guessed, they sell stuff in bulk! They have EVERYTHING you might crave like chocolate-covered pretzels, or M&M’s, sour candies, and even healthy choices like savory and crunchy baked chickpeas.

Don’t have one of those near you? I can almost bet you have some form of a dollar store that can satisfy your sweet (or sour) tooth. The best bet is to get a little bit of everything so that people can customize their bowl the way they want it.
Just make sure you get enough for seconds, or thirds!
Our Take
There’s no such thing as too many snack options when it comes to home theater viewing. Whether you’re settling in for a movie marathon or just a quick sitcom binge, these five snacks keep the good vibes, and the flavor, rolling.

Sorry it took so long for me to respond; I was eating.
Great list, Sir. Excellent choices all around. The list made me want to get some corndogs… Honestly, I’m not 400 lbs.
