DISH Multi-room Music via DTS Play-Fi
Back when we covered the 2017 CES show we saw a demo of the DISH Multi-room Music app. It uses DTS Play-Fi technology to simulcast or stream music on all your speakers and TVs throughout the house. This begged the questions of how long it will be before they enable “Super Bowl mode” for simultaneous streaming of video with audio throughout the home. In either case, the new DISH Multi-room music system allows you to stream Amazon Music, iHeartRadio, Pandora, TIDAL, and others for that whole-home audio experience. The service is available now on the Hopper 2, Hopper 3, and all connected Joey clients. The service costs nothing and should be accessible immediately.

Of course, to make the service useful, you need control. The DISH Music app is powered by DTS Play-Fi technology and lets customers select and sync music throughout the home. Even better, it connects your Hopper 2 and/or Hopper 3 DVRs alongside any DTS Play-Fi-enabled speakers. You can play music from your personal library or any of the supported services.

The new DISH Music app works with both Android (Google Play Store) and iOS (App Store) devices. While the system allows for simultaneous streaming of music, you can also select individual tracks for each room or zone. When you do have music playing, any connected display will show the song title, artist, etc.
The news that DISH has jumped in with DTS Play-Fi is a big deal. Currently you can find Play-Fi technology in products from the following manufacturers:

- Rotel
- Sonus Faber
- Thiel Audio
- Wren
If that list weren’t big enough, more Play-Fi products are due this year and next from Elite, Integra, Pioneer, Onkyo, Soundcast, and SVS Sound.
DISH Music currently supports Amazon Music, Deezer, iHeartRadio, Napster, Pandora, SiriusXM, and TIDAL. Obviously, you’ll need an account on each of the services in order to use them within the DISH Music app.
The DISH Music app is available for download today in the Apple App Store, Google Play Store and Amazon app marketplace.
