Yamaha TV speaker base Soundbars

Yamaha TV Speaker Base and More at CEDIA 2014

Yamaha showed off three new speaker products at the 2014 CEDIA Expo, including their new Yamaha TV speaker base. We got to walk through all three of them (in no particular order). The first was the Yamaha YAS-203 sound bar, an entry level consumer sound bar that is a nice aesthetic upgrade to the YAS-201. It retails for 399.95 and includes a wireless subwoofer that has a 6.5” driver. This particular sound bar has simulated surround as supposed to the DSP-driven beam steering of some of Yamaha’s sound projector products.

Speaking of sound projectors, the new Yamaha YSP-2500 sound projector includes HDMI inputs that support 4K/60 pass-through. It utilizes 16 separate drivers on the front that can handle Yamaha’s beam steering technology. There’s even a mode that can point all of the sound from the YSP-2500 sound projector to a specific location in the room (great for night listening, but sure to not win you any friends if you have a room full of people!). The YSP-2500 retails for $999.95 and, even though it comes with a slim wireless sub, it has a dedicated RCA subwoofer output in the event you’re a total bass head and want to use an existing wired subwoofer.

The Yamaha SRT-1000 TV Speaker Base is designed for TVs up to 55” that might have their TVs on a credenza or stand and not mounted on a wall or over a fireplace. The Yamaha TV speaker base is a digital sound projector with 8 drivers for their TV beam steering technology. Two front-mounted drivers handle the midrange while two integrated ported subwoofers fill in the bottom end. This TV speaker base produces truly room-filling sound for a bedroom or even a living room due to the vast amount of volume this product produces over a conventional sound bar.
