Polk MagniFi Mini AX Ultra-Compact Soundbar

Polk has announced the MagniFi Mini AX ultra-compact soundbar. Measuring at 14.5” wide, this could be a solution for those who want (or need) a compact form factor soundbar to upgrade their TV speakers.

The MagniFi Mini AX ultra-compact soundbar features Polk’s patented SDA (stereo dimensional array) 3D Audio technology. This promises to create an immersive soundstage that utilizes certified Atmos and DTS:X surround sound. They say the soundbar will deliver spatial audio without the need for a traditional overhead setup. Polk claims the ManiFi Mini AX ultra-compact soundbar will provide “deep bass, detailed highs, and an expansive 3D soundstage.”

The Polk Audio MagniFi Mini AX is $499 and is available now at authorized Polk dealers.

Under The Hood

At the heart of the Polk Audio MagniFi Mini AX ultra-compact soundbar is a five-speaker array coupled with a down-firing compact subwoofer. This five-speaker array utilizes DSP and Polks SDA 3D Audio technology to recreate Atmos and DTS:X soundtracks without overhead speakers.

The MagniFi Mini AX also has Polk’s patented VoiceAdjust speech-clarifying technology. Mated to the MagniFi’s integrated center channel, it brings up the level of voices without impacting the rest of the soundtrack.

The left/center/right mid speakers measure at 2”, while the left/right tweeters are 0.75”. This explains how Polk could squeeze so many speakers in such a small form factor. The subwoofer driver is equally as compact, measuring 5”x7”.

With an overall dimension of (WxDxH) 14.4″ x 4.1″ x 3.1” for the soundbar and 7.2×15.6×14.6” for the subwoofer, you will have no issues finding a
space to place them.

Specs

Connections

The Polk Audio MagniFi Mini AX ultra-compact soundbar has a single HDMI eARC connection. With no additional HDMI inputs, you will have to utilize your TV’s inputs to connect all of your devices. The MagniFi Mini AX also has an optical input, 3.5mm AUX, and a USB-A port. The latter is only for firmware updates.

The subwoofer connects wirelessly, meaning that a power plug is the only limit for placement. If you want to add surround speakers, you are in luck. For example, the Polk Audio MagniFi Mini AX is compatible with the Polk SR3 wireless surround speakers, allowing a whole room surround experience.

These connections should allow you to stream anything you want, or you can use your smart TV’s built-in apps. Plus, don’t forget you have a 3.5mm AUX input if you want to hardwire your device.

The Polk Audio MagniFi Mini AX is Roku TV Ready. This means that the MagniFi is compatible with your Roku TV, allowing for a single remote to control your devices. This is a welcome addition to the ever-expanding number of remotes audio enthusiasts collect.
