DISH adds Netflix Joey News & Opinion

DISH Adds Netflix App on Joey Set Top Boxes

Having already added Netflix to its Hopper DVR platform, now DISH just added Netflix to its Joey clients as well as the Vevo app. That means anyone using the DISH Joey clients for multi-room television and program viewing can now access Netflix. With this app update, DISH is the first major U.S. pay-TV provider to offer its customers a whole-home Netflix experience. These changes will show up to anyone using a DISH second-generation Hopper. Current customers will see the new apps show up on connected Joey clients in the next couple weeks. This includes the Joey, Super Joey and Wireless Joey. Anyone not already using Netflix can create an account directly within the app or simply by visiting www.netflix.com/dish.

We love that now DISH adds Netflix to its app family. It makes an easy transition between any of DISH’s already vast streaming media services to the Netflix environment. Further, since bringing up the Netflix app can be done from any location within DISH (by pressing the Blue button on the remote control) you can quickly and easily continue searching for great content to watch at any time.

Not content to stop with Netflix, DISH also added Vevo, giving customers access to over 140,000 music videos right to their TV. The new Vevo app is rolling out alongside Netflix and should be available between today and the next couple weeks. Both apps work with DISH’s second-generation Hopper’s—and later this year ti will work on DISH Joey set top boxes.

The Vevo app on Hopper gives viewers access to a library of more than 140,000 HD music videos that can be discovered by browsing categories like genre, top videos and artists, live videos, premiers and staff picks. Users can also access Vevo TV to watch music videos playing 24/7 on three different channels – popular hits, country, and rap and R&B.

“Our great partnership with DISH has helped expand the number of places where you can see and easily view great content such as ‘Marvel’s Daredevil’ and ‘House of Cards’. Now that DISH is expanding its Hopper experience with its Joey clients, our members will be able to start watching in the living room, pause and pick up right where they left off in the bedroom, and elsewhere in the home.”

Bill Holmes, Netflix global head of business development

Both the Netflix and Vevo apps are easily accessible from any DISH channel by clicking the blue button on the remote control. As DISH keeps adding more and more apps and features, consumers are benefitting like never before. We love the additions and can’t wait to see what DISH has in store next.
